ZombiU 2 was the working title for a planned third instalment in the Zombi series and the sequel to ZombiU. The game started development as a prototype in 2013, by between 5-10 staff at Ubisoft Montpellier. However, it was cancelled shortly after starting development, due to the disappointing sales of ZombiU. The game never left the pre-production stage.

Gameplay[]

ZombiU 2 would have returned the series to a run-down, zombie apocalypse setting, and was intended to have a local cooperative multiplayer mode, as well as levels with multiple routes to force players into splitting up at certain points. The first player would hold the GamePad, as in the original ZombiU, while a second player would use a Pro Controller or Wii remote and nunchuck. New melee weapons, other than the cricket bat, were also planned. According to a leak in 2014, the game would have taken place in New York City rather than London.

Another leak came soon after by a user on Reddit that claimed to work at Ubisoft. The leak stated that the game would have been set in March of 2013 (aprox. 4 months after the events of the 1st game), the last vaccine formula (in-game named the Panacea) would be lost, and the player would have had to find a way to retrieve the formula, but this was not going to be easy. There would have been 3 difficulties to choose from: (Chicken, Survivor & Hardcore). It is unknown if there were plans for an online multiplayer mode or even further installments in the series.
