London was the capital city and the largest urban area in England and the United Kingdom. It is the setting for ZombiU.
Upon the outbreak of the predicted Second Blight in 2012, the city quickly fell into chaos and became overrun with infected, and the police and military were unable to restore control. Loss of life was extremely heavy, both to outright deaths as well as to infection.
Fifteen days after the virus decimated London, the city became a no-rescue zone and was destroyed by the Royal Air Force (the black angels mentioned in Dee's prophecy) via firebombing.
In ZombiU[]
John Dee made a prediction in the 17th Century known as the Black Prophecy, revealed to him by Enochian Angels, that predicts a deadly plague referred to as "The Blight" sweeping across London and England in the year 2012. Most modern people, including the British Prime Minister, did not believe this prediction was true. However, the Queen, the Omega Group and the Ravens of Dee all believed the predictions and so began preparing for the coming storm by constructing safe houses and labs to study the sought after Panacea.
According to a newspaper found in Brick Lane, the first signs of the Blight occurred on December 18th 2012, when three people in South-East London died of a mysterious disease. These three people likely reanimated into zombies and began to spread the infection across London. By 19th December the virus had spread to most of South London, before eventually crossing the River Thames and infecting North London. The city fell into anarchy and society broke down. The armed forces and police were unable to restore control within the city, and the government unsuccessfully went into hiding in Westminster Palace. Fifteen days after the outbreak, London was left in ruins, with most of its population either dead or infected. Only a few scattered survivors remained. The Ravens of Dee attempted to rescue survivors at the Tower of London, but this failed when their helicopter crashed.
Towards the end of the game, the RAF began carrying out Operation Firewall, a plan to firebomb London in order to wipe out the infection. The Ravens organised one final evacuation at the Tower of London, this time succeeding in rescuing the player. The helicopter leaves as RAF aircraft destroy the city, revealing that they are the prophecy's black angels who will end the Blight and restore order.

Trivia[]
- Apart from Brick Lane Flats and Baconfields, all in-game locations are based on or are named after real-life areas in London.
- Strangely, Big Ben doesn't make an appearance in the game, despite it being London's number one icon as well as appearing on the game's front cover and in concept art.
- An extract from the Black Prophecy reads "From these ashes shall arise a new utopia in Londinium, like unto Heaven on earth". This could indicate that London was rebuilt after it was firebombed and after all signs of the Blight were wiped out, but this is just speculation.
- The positioning of the London landmarks in some areas in the game is inaccurate to their real-life positions. For example, in Victoria Memorial, the Gherkin is shown to be located a few miles from Buckingham Palace, whereas in real life the Gherkin is nowhere near the palace and cannot be seen from there.
